Q1:Can I somehow add page numbers to text files that I create in emacs or vi without having to use a full-fledged document formatting system, such as LaTeX?
A1: Yes. You can use the pr command to accomplish very simple formatting tasks on basic text files and then pipe the output to lpr for printing. To find out more about pr, including the options and arguments it accepts, check out the man page for pr.
Q2:When I try to run LaTeX, I get an error message and a prompt that looks like a question mark, from which I can't seem to exit. What's wrong?
