Troubleshooting

Several things can go wrong during this process. Here are some of the most common problems you might run into and some possible solutions:

  • My make buildworld process failed!

    One problem that can occur is that the make buildworld fails with a compiler error, often citing "* Error code 1". If this happens, it usually means that the compiler ran into a problem related to the source files themselves. This probably means that you were unlucky enough to cvsup when the source tree was broken and could not be built. Check the FreeBSD-STABLE mailing list archives for any recent posts about the build being broken. Run cvsup again at a later time.
