Removing Installed Software

If you want to remove software installed from a package, use the pkg_delete command. In its basic form, the command is simply followed by the name of the package you want to delete. If you do not know the name of the package, use the pkg_info command discussed previously to find it.

pkg_delete will not remove the software if other software is currently installed that depends on the software you are trying to remove. If you want to force pkg_delete to remove the software anyway, you can use the –f option. However, this is usually not a good idea because it will probably cause some other applications that you currently have installed to stop working properly.
