Using SSI Directives

Let’s look at a simple example of embedding SSI directives in a page. The syntax for SSI directives is very similar to HTML comments. There’s a good reason for this. If for some reason you used SSI directives in a document that the Web server thought was a normal HTML file, the Web browser would interpret the directives as comments instead of displaying them as part of the page. The basic format for SSI directives is
