Q1: Isn’t there a lot more to working with relational databases than this?
A1: Of course there is, but due to the enormity of the subject, the lesson was “A mile wide and an inch deep,” as they say. If you’re going to be working with databases a lot, you should really buy a book that discusses them in detail. You may want to look at the following books: Special Edition Using SQL, by Rafe Colburn; The Practical SQL Handbook, by Judith S. Bowman, Sandra L. Emerson, and Marcy Darnovsky; or Database Design for Mere Mortals: A Hands-On Guide to Relational Database Design, by Michael J. Hernandez.
