Why Content Publishing?

Back in the good old days, sites were pretty easy to manage. They generally consisted of a few HTML documents, and maybe some images. When you wanted to change the look and feel of a site, you loaded up Notepad and edited all the documents to reflect the changes you wanted to make. As sites grew larger, other techniques and tools were developed to make life easier for site maintainers. You could get tools to make sure that all the links on your site work, and multifile search and replace tools to make it easier to update your entire site at once.
