Appendix A. Data Type Reference

MySQL can store numeric, string, and temporal (date and time) data. This appendix serves as a quick reference to the various column types available to you for storing these types of data.

For each column type, the following sections give a brief description, together with the range of values that can be stored, amount of disk storage required, allowable attributes, and any other pertinent information.

For more information about declaring and using column types, and examples, see Day 5, “MySQL Data Types.”
