The bad news is there are a bunch of ways to configure old-school Ethernet cabling. The good news is you should never have to deal with any of these ways. Coax or thick Ethernet cabling is obsolete, hard to work with, and it’s included here simply to state that if you want a reliable network, you need to get rid of it!

It will save you time and money in the long run to replace any of the following network types. They are obsolete and can be replaced fairly cheaply.
