Adding a List or a Menu

Radio buttons are a great way to give the user set choices. However, sometimes they're not appropriate, such as when you're selecting one of the 50 United States. Allowing the user to select from a drop-down menu helps you collect consistent data. If you allowed the user to enter a state in a text field, you might get some users entering the full name, like Washington, other users entering the correct postal abbreviation, like WA, and other users entering anything in between.

The List/Menu object inserts a list of values. You create the List/Menu object as either a list, displaying a set number of lines, or a menu, a drop-down menu displaying all the list values. Figure 19.14 shows a list and a menu in a form displayed ...
