Nesting Layers

You can create a layer within another layer; the new layer is nested within its parent layer. When you move the parent layer, the new child layer moves with it. The child layer also inherits its parent's visibility attributes.

To create a nested layer, place the cursor inside the parent layer and choose the Layer command from the Insert menu. Draw a nested layer by using the Draw Layer object to draw inside an existing layer while holding down the Ctrl key. Also, you can place an existing layer within another layer by picking it up in the Layers panel while holding down the Ctrl key in Windows or the Command key on the Mac and then dropping it into another layer.
