Using Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access is usually used interactively to create and manage databases and to interact and manipulate data, and Access features a Query Designer which can be used to build a SQL statement interactively. A frequently overlooked feature of this Query Designer is that it also lets you specify SQL for direct execution. This enables you to use Access to send SQL statements to any ODBC Data Source, although it is best suited for executing SQL against an open database. To use this feature, do the following:

Launch Microsoft Access. You will be prompted to open (or create) a database. Open the database that you want to use.
