Q&A

Q1:I don't have a Microsoft SQL Server available to me, what can I use instead?
A1: You could use a personal database such as Microsoft Access, but this book is about T-SQL, and although some of the examples in this book will work in Access or some other database, many will not.
Q2:I'm new to programming, but I need to learn SQL. Is this book for me?
A2: Absolutely. I've included notes and sidebars for people who have never programmed before. If you have programmed before, just skip over these as you see fit.
Q3:Why is SQL pronounced "sequel?"
A3: SQL is a descendant of IBM's SEQUEL language. The pronunciation has stuck from this earlier name.
