Advantages and Disadvantages of RDS

The advantages of using RDS are

  • Provides functional compatibility with ADO Recordsets. By being functionally compatible with ADO, the learning curve is substantially reduced and the effort to switch between the two protocols is trivial.

  • Achieved efficiencies by having the recordset manipulation occur jointly between the client and server. Only changes are exchanged. This reduces the network traffic and thus improves the efficiency of the system. Since processing is shared between both systems, each system can handle the processing needs of the respective systems.
