Using the Windows Internet Components to Connect to Business Objects

The WinInet component encapsulates the complexities of interacting with a Web, FTP, or Gopher server. WinInet enables you to operate at a higher level than does WinSock, in which you have to handle TCP/IP and the HTTP protocol. With the WinInet control you can actually create your own simple browser. The control handles the HTTP header creation for you and takes off the header after the data is returned. An added, nice feature is the capability to communicate via HTTPS, which is a secure Internet session. The complexities of secure Internet communications are handled within the control.
