Exploring Other Data Stores

At the beginning of the chapter, I discussed data stores and how ADO is part of Microsoft's Universal Data Access. You learned that with ADO, through the use of OLE DB, you can get at any type of data store out there. But, the examples, up to this point have been with SQL Server. Therefore, you will now learn about connecting to other data stores.

One specific example of an OLE DB provider that you can use with ADO is Index Server. Index Server is part of Internet Information Server and allows the user to set up indexes of Web pages that can then be searched on.
