Today's lesson introduced you to the database vocabulary. After discussing the components of a database, you learned the basics of SQL, the programming language used to manipulate database objects. You saw how to use the Data View Window in Visual Basic to easily create tables. Then, you saw how to use diagrams to establish relationships between tables. Finally, you saw how to use SQL to insert, update, select, and delete rows.

Day 5, "Putting Business Logic in the Data Tier," will look at the SQL equivalent of subroutines in Visual Basic stored procedures.
