Planning an E-Commerce Site

As with any ColdFusion application, it's a good idea to start your e-commerce site by building a clear vision of what the site will and won't do, as well as how visitors will navigate your pages.

E-commerce sites typically have four basic elements:

  • An administration section. The admin pages enable you or your client to enter, edit, or remove product data and to create categories by which products are organized.

  • A catalog section. The catalog controls how users browse your products and what item information is presented.
