Understanding Application Variables

The practice of using application variables is very similar to the other scopes, but remember that application variables persist throughout your application and retain their values for every user session. They expire only when ColdFusion Server is restarted, or if you have defined a custom timeout value in Application.cfm or ColdFusion Administrator.

Note

Application variables can be enabled and disabled under ColdFusion Administrator's "variables" link. Some Web hosting services might not support application variables—check with your host's administrator to find out.
