ColdFusion's interaction with databases goes far beyond simple output. ColdFusion tags like <CFINSERT> and <CFUPDATE> give you the ability to create Web-based forms that can change the contents of your database. In doing so, you can allow yourself, your clients, or your users to make instant changes to stuff that appears on your Web sites.
