Analytic snapshots

Analytic snapshots are more like taking a picture of a report at a particular point of time and then creating a record out of it and storing it in a custom object. These records can then be used to make a report again. Users can schedule analytic snapshots to summarize data at specific times.

The benefits of using analytic snapshots include:

  • Running reports faster by reporting data that is already summarized
  • Creating dashboards that refresh quickly by associating them with presummarized data
  • Sorting and filtering specific data summaries via list views
  • Viewing trends in data via custom object records
