You’ve done all the hard graft to prepare for your meeting or your workshop, but this is just the beginning. If you want to lead truly great meetings and workshops, you need to spend time developing the skills that will support you. We know you can’t do this in a matter of a few weeks or days. But you can start to think more mindfully about these skills, practise them in different settings and think about how they work for you.

Then you can apply these key skills so that you become more aware of what happens within a group. It’s essential to grow your awareness of what’s going on in a group if you’re going to do great work.

Finally, you need to do your personal preparation. The amount of personal preparation you now do will really affect how you come over on the day and whether or not you achieve your outcomes. To give you an analogy from school: You’ve attended all the classes, made fabulous notes and handed in all your essays, but you haven’t yet done the revision for your exam. And the exam date is already in the diary.
