When you prepare to install the hardware and software components of your RTLS, one of the most important things you need to do is empower your administrators to streamline the time and effort required to monitor and administer it.

You may have the best technology and a perfect RTLS application, but if you don’t have processes in place to ensure that the contracted level of service is provided to the users (whether people or applications) of the RTLS, to troubleshoot problems faced by your users (or inaccuracies in data received by your applications), and to anticipate or react to failures, you can’t sail smoothly and succeed in your RTLS deployment.

This chapter shows you how to monitor the performance and availability of your RTLS. Armed with the information in this chapter, you can keep your environment running smoothly, provide the means to correct problems before outages occur, and reduce the costs of resolving problems.
