Nigel Fox, Location Sound Recordist, or Soundie

Nigel Fox and his company, Foxprovideo, provide sound services for domestic and international broadcasters. As a location soundie, which is Australian slang for a sound recordist, I get the much-maligned and most definitely underrated task of collecting the spoken voice, music, and background noises associated with television productions. But as the old saying states: out of sight out of mind. We’re not seen as the “glamour” part of the camera crew. Recently, news departments have been savage in their cutting of two-person camera crews.
