Your Mac as an FTP Server
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of allowing access to a computer for either uploading or downloading files. Mac OS X includes FTP server software so you can do this from home or any small office.
Over the Internet, you can access files stored in a user’s Home folder, no matter where in the world you are. To download files, a web browser is sufficient. To upload files to an FTP-enabled Mac, use an FTP “client,” such as Transmit (www.panic.com) or Fetch (www.FetchSoftworks.com). Both of these utilities can also download files, as explained on the following pages.
