Using the Public Folder

As I mentioned on the previous page, you can put files in your Public folder to share with other users on the same Mac. File Sharing does not need to be turned on to do this (to share files in your Public folder over a network, Personal File Sharing does need to be turned on, as discussed in the following chapter).

Just drop files into your Public folder and all other users on the Mac can copy them to their Home folder.

To pick up a file in a Public folder, click once on that user’s Home folder, then click on their Public folder. Just drag a file out—it will be automatically copied for you. Notice most of the other ...
