Post a File for Others to Copy

If you put a file in your Public folder, everyone else on the Mac has access to it, just like in the Shared folder, but other users have to open your Home folder to get to it. Files in the Public folder are also accessible over a network, as explained in the following chapter, whereas files in the Shared folder are only available to users on the local Mac.

If you threw away your Public folder because you thought you’d never need it, follow the steps below to create a new one. If you still have your Public folder, skip to page 624.
