Send a Direct Message
Instant Messages go through a central messaging server on the Internet. If you have a message to send that requires more privacy, you can use a Direct Message that goes directly to another person’s computer, bypassing the central server. (Some recipients may have network or firewall security settings that do not allow Direct Messages to be delivered.)
To END a Direct Instant Message session, either you or the recipient close your window (click the red button).
To send a Direct Message to someone in your Buddy List:
1. | Select a Buddy in your Buddy List window who is online (if your Buddy List isn’t showing, press Command 1).

2. | From the Buddies menu at the top of the screen, choose “Send Direct Message....”
