Web Addresses, also known as URLs

Something you will become intimately familiar with is a web address. Just as every home in the country has its own address so you can find it, every web page on the World Wide Web has its own address. The address is also called a URL (pronounced you are ell), which stands for Uniform Resource Locator (who cares). A typical web address looks like this:

http://www.ratz.com/robin/hats.html

Knowing what a web address represents helps you find your way around on the web. This is what the different parts mean:

http://These letters stand for hypertext transfer protocol, but who cares. The important thing to know is that the http means this address leads to a web page. You might also see addresses that start with
