Connect to the Internet with Your Dial-up Account

Okay, you’re all set up with your new telephone modem Internet account and you want to actually connect and go to the web. There are several ways to do this.

Connect automatically

If you checked the box to “Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications,” as explained on page 509, then you can just single-click on the Mail icon or the Internet Explorer browser icon (or any other browser you choose) in your Dock. The Mac will automatically dial up your connection and log on, then open the application.

If you have any trouble doing that, manually log on to the Internet yourself, as explained below, and then open your browser:
