Disk Utility

The Disk Utility provides five different features. Only the Administrator (or someone with the Administrator’s name and password) can run Disk Utility.

• You can get Information on any mounted disk, as shown below, such as its size, how much space is available, and how many files and folders are stored on the disk.

• You can run First Aid to check for problems and to repair many problems on any mounted disk, except the disk that has the operating system on it (the startup disk), CD-ROMs, locked disks, and disks that have open files (quit all applications before you try to run First Aid).
