Finding the Original File

Sometimes you want to find the original file that the alias is linked to. For instance, maybe you need to get something from an application’s folder, but you don’t want to dig down through all the other folders to get there.

To find the original file belonging to an alias, follow these simple steps:

1.
Click once on the alias to select it.
2.
From the File menu, choose “Show Original,” or press Command R. The original file will appear in front of you, selected.
