System Preferences

The System Preferences pane holds all of the individual preferences. If you are an experienced Mac OS 9 user, you’ll recognize these as the replacements to the control panels.

To open System Preferences:

  • The icon shown to the left should be in your Dock. Click once on it.

  • You can always go to the Apple menu and choose “System Preferences....”

    This is the System Preferences icon that is probably in the Dock.

The “favorites toolbar” across the top can be customized:

  • To add a preference to the toolbar for easier access, drag any icon from the pane up into the toolbar.
