Chapter 17. Using the Trash
The Trash basket on the Mac works just like the trash can in your yard—you put things in it you don’t want anymore and the garbage collector comes and takes it away and you never see it again. The Trash basket is kept in the Dock, as shown below. Since the Trash is such an important part of working on the Mac, it gets its own chapter with tips about using it.
If your machine has multiple users, each user has their own personal Trash basket: no one but that user can empty that basket, and no user can see what any other user has in their Trash.
