Adding a Printer to the List

Your Mac needs to put your computer in its Printer List so you can choose to print to it and so the computer knows what that particular printer is capable of doing. For instance, if you choose to print to a color inkjet, the Print dialog box will provide color options, but not paper tray options. If you choose to print to a black-and-white PostScript laser printer, you won’t have any color options, but you will have paper tray options.

To add a printer to the List, you can either go back to the Print dialog box in your document, or you can open the Print Center directly. Either way is exactly the same, as follows:
