Blank Spaces

The computer thinks a blank space is just the same as any other character—it has no idea that you can’t see that character. Every Tab, Return, Spacebar space, etc., that appears invisible to us is an actual thing to the Mac. This means you can select blank spaces, blank lines, blank tabbed spaces, or Returns to delete them. Select and delete them just as you would any other character.

Also, since these blank spaces are characters, you can actually change the size of them (font size, that is, as explained on page 205), as well as the leading (space between the lines), the paragraph spacing, etc., all of which would affect the size ...
