Understanding Folders and how they display their contents in the different views

The contents of folders are always displayed in windows. As explained in Chapter 6, you can choose to see the contents of any window in three different views: Icon View, List View, and Column View. How you open and display the folder is a little different in each of these views.

Icon View

Icon View: In Icon View, double-click a folder to see its contents. Typically, the contents of this newly opened folder will replace what was just there. You can, as explained in Chapter 6, arrange to have a new window open every time you double-click a folder; see pages 79 and 96.
