Computer Level

The Computer level in a Finder window shows you all the possible “storage devices,” or “volumes,” you have available. Storage devices include your own hard disk, including any “partitions” you might have separated it into (see Chapter 38 about partitions). If you are in an office or school facility that uses “servers,” or big computers that store files and send them out to other computers for others to use, you will see icons for the servers in the Computer level. You will also see any computers that you are connected to over any kind of network, such as in a small home office (the Mac considers all computers that you are connected to in any way to be “servers”).
