File Menu

The File menu in the Finder has a collection of commands that only apply to certain things that are active or selected in the Finder. Be sure to make the desired window active first (click once in it) or select the icon first (click once on it) before you choose one of these commands.

New Finder Window: Opens a new window (you don’t need to activate or select anything first). Actually, it opens another window of the same window that’s on your screen.
