Three Views of the Same Contents

You can change how you view the contents of a Finder window. Some people like to see their window’s contents as icons, some prefer to view a list of names, while others prefer columns showing the contents of multiple folders at once. Below you see the same window contents in three different views. We’re going to look at each of these views in detail later; for now, I just want you to know what they are and how to change them if you like.

These are the View buttons you see in the Toolbar—click one to change the view of the active window. You can also change the view of the active window by using the “View” menu at the Desktop.
