Cleaning the Mouse

If your mouse has a little red glow in the middle, it’s an optical mouse and uses light to communicate with the monitor. Check the bottom of the mouse regularly—grunge builds up on the white plastic edge and can affect the way the mouse moves around on the pad. You might want to first unplug the mouse from the keyboard to prevent things from happening on your screen as you clean the mouse.

If you have an older mouse with a ball on the bottom, it’s important to keep the ball and pocket clean—cat hairs and dustballs get inside. Take it apart regularly and clean it, following these steps:
