Basic Desktop Tasks

This is a list of several other basic Desktop tasks you need to learn because you will be doing them everyday:

  • Read pages 145–151 about folders. Make a new folder. (What is the keyboard shortcut?!) Name your new folder.

  • Make a duplicate of this new folder: click once on the folder to select it, then find the command for duplicating. Which menu is it in, and what is the keyboard shortcut (see page 171)? Change the name of this duplicate folder.

  • Use the Trash basket (read pages 265–269). Throw away the duplicate folder you just made. Empty the trash.

  • Backup your work! You should do this to every file you want to keep, especially your documents. In case the file on your hard disk gets lost or trashed or your hard disk dies, you ...
