Naming Files

A file name can have 256 characters, which is rarely useful. In Mac OS X, file name extensions are often very important! For instance, if you take the .rtf off of the name of a document you created in TextEdit, then TextEdit can’t open it. If you name a folder with an extension of .dock, it’s no longer a folder.
