Using Classic (Mac OS 9)

While running your Mac under OS X, you may need to open older applications in the “Classic” environment, Mac OS 9. You can just open any OS 9 application and the Mac will automatically open Classic, but you will have fewer problems if you open Classic first, then open your OS 9 application. See Chapter 39 for details.

Open Classic: Open the System Preferences window and click on the Classic icon. In the “Start/Stop” tab, click the button “Start.”

Automatically open Classic on startup: Open the Classic preference, as explained above. Click the checkbox, “Start Classic when you login.”
