18.1. Introduction

The Options window provides a centralized location for the user to change an application’s configurable settings. For example, in the IDE, the user changes keyboard shortcuts in the Options window, under the Tools menu. When you provide a new module for the IDE, you can extend the Options window so that the user can configure the options relevant to your module. The Options window is part of the NetBeans Platform and, therefore, such a window is provided out of the box for all NetBeans applications. Just as you can extend the IDE’s Options window, you can extend a standalone application’s Options window too.
