Since skin effect takes place in good conductors we are interested in the electric fields in conductors with high values of the conductivity σ. Let's further assume non-dielectric non-magnetic material (εr = μr = 1). In these conductors current flow is mainly due to conduction current density images/c02_I0197.gif. The displacement current density images/c02_I0198.gif is of minor significance. We will consider a conductive halfspace (z ≥ 0) in order to ease our calculations by having a simple geometry.
