STATUS QUO

To have a foundation for moving forward, we need a shared vision of where we stand. We need to characterize how the world is changing, what the current state of the industry is, and the mismatch. In this section, we will review the prevalent approaches, point out why they are not adequate to the world we are now in, and discuss why they do not even achieve what we think they do. It may be painful, but it is important that we be brutally honest.

It is easier to change when you acknowledge that your current state is not working, and there is ample evidence that L&D is not coping well with the changes in the world. How is our world changing? What should companies do in response?
