Checklist

The following checklist can be used to assess a proposed WBS for completeness and consistency:

  1. The set of tasks in the WBS are necessary and sufficient for completing the software project: The project will be considered complete if all tasks have been completed and would be considered incomplete it any tasks were not completed.

  2. The WBS addresses all relevant perspectives: technical, management, quality, deployment, and, as appropriate, marketing, sales, end-user participation, and so on.

  3. Tasks representing all relevant sources of expense (initial expense, operating and maintenance, etc.) appear in the WBS.

  4. Tasks representing all relevant sources of revenue (sales income, cost avoidance, and salvage value) appear in the WBS.
