Conclusion

Throughout this book, I’ve shared ways to build responsive sites that prioritize usability, access, sustainability, and performance. All of these factors matter for today’s web, but they also ready our sites for the browsers of tomorrow.

Our audience is diversifying both geographically and technologically. As people in developing regions gain greater access to the web, the opportunity to broaden our reach grows as well, and the need for more fault tolerance and tiered, qualified delivery becomes ever more critical. At the same time, building responsibly benefits audiences in developed areas too, with faster, more accessible sites that are forgiving when browsing conditions are less than ideal.
