Chapter 10

Editing Textures in an External Photo Editor

SketchUp can be linked to an external photo-editing software package, such as Adobe Photoshop, to create greater variety in an image. Photoshop tools can improve textures and generate new materials to be saved into the Texture Library. Although a photo editor is not essential when preparing a model for rendering, the options one provides can make for better renderings, through high-quality edits—such as adjusting color, adding grain, and fixing blemishes—that simply are not possible within SketchUp alone.

The chapter references Adobe Photoshop to demonstrate alteration methods. Other editing software, such as Gimp or something similar, can be used instead.
