Abstract

This chapter provides a great case study from a highly experienced planner who had retired from a large, famous company known for maintenance excellence and started his second career in a much smaller plant as more than “just a planner.” In contrast, his new company acted as if maintenance was an unwelcomed cost to the business. The lack of support and commitment resulted in underperformance and missing its full potential for value-added cost savings to the organization.
